Schollar when I could read, write and cypher through the single rule of three, (in the Western Calculator) But I find that the more I know the more I see my ignorance. I have now come to the conclusion that it is an impossibility for one man to understand one tenth that is to be, or in other words can be learned. For my part I am going to confine myself to three or four branches and perhaps to one or two: for it is better to be master of a few arts and sciences, than the "Jack of all, and master of none.
 When I think of departing from college, it almost makes the tears flow from my eyes, for I love to study above all things; - it is food to my mind and pleasure to my heart, my companion when alone and protector when abroad. I now bid adieu to college life and all I learn hereafter will be without an instructor. C. K.
